I just flew 3000+ miles to buy a step van only to get ghosted by some 19 year old kid in Bellingham, WA.
This will be a review of this seller and my experience with trying to buy a van from him.
I saw his post on Facebook marketplace.
And that was one of the vans I wanted so we talked on the phone and messaged for like 2 weeks or so and then I had him bring it to a mechanic for inspection.
And things seemed to be going pretty good.
So then we talked more about things including the price and I got a ticket out to Seattle from New Hampshire to buy it.
Then my first flight got canceled and then that messed up my connecting flights and arrival time. So I got to Bellingham a day later.
And then he wasn’t sure what a bill of sale was and then before that couldn’t find the title. He said he didn’t need the bill of sale and I was like yeah, I need both the title and a bill of sale or I am not getting on this flight.
Then he sent me a pic of the bill of sale.
So there were times in our communication where he was a bit evasive or something.
Anyways…
I spent nearly $1000 on this and he doesn’t give a $#@!
- $71 for a mechanical inspection
- $280 for a plane ticket
- $53 for a bus from Seattle to Bellingham
- $270 on hotels to wait
- $344 for insurance on this van for 6 months
I flew 3000 miles and spent nearly a $1000 to fly across the country to buy a van to only get ghosted by this kid who stopped sending emails yesterday.
What did he pay for this?
ZERO.
Was this difficult for him?
Hardly.
Before I went there he said it would be best for me to come on a weekend and I did. But he also said if you are going to buy my van then a weekday is possible to.
So I get there and things start going wrong. I meet him in a parking lot of a hotel to check the van out. He locks the keys in the back cargo area. I call my bank to raise my withdrawal limit and they said ok. And then I start looking for ATM’s to get money and some won’t let me withdraw or they only give me 500-$1000 a time.
I couldn’t find many atms where we were and being on foot in a new city made it more difficult. Of course he never offered a ride to some atm’s. Over a period of like 2 days I went to like 20-30 atm’s encountering withdrawal limitations, out of service machines, etc. Then I finally get it all out to pay him after he leaves on Sunday morning to go to Seattle for work and school.
I email him a pic of all the money $5500.
Then he says he can’t come back to Bellingham until Friday.
So he expects me to pay for a hotel until Friday and wait for him? Like dude you don’t understand what I just went through to get here and get all this money not to mention all the expenses I had and now you can’t drive and hour and a half to sell your van?
He says he has to work and go to school, like you can’t skip out on that for half a day to finish this transaction?
Then I say to him you said that even if you come here during the week then he could come to Bellingham to sell the van where he keeps it.
Then he says, “Things change man…” and starts saying you didn’t have all the money when we agreed on the time and place.
Well, a few things…
I apologized for that and that’s because I didn’t want to carry $5500 in cash with me across the country on an airplane. My bank said I would be able to withdraw that in a day but then I found that wasn’t so easy plus it was a holiday weekend and banks were closed so I couldn’t go into one.
I came at a time that was convenient for him, not me.
I took me like a day and a half to get all the money out and then when I get it he doesn’t want it?
I think you are immature, selfish and inconsiderate. And those are the kind words.
I think Saxon is immature and selfish. Like you can’t understand I just travelled here from the east coast and jumped through all kinds of hoops to get here, get the money to buy a van and you can’t drive 3 hours to finish this?
Awwww, is that too difficult for you? Will that ruin your life?
Fuck you too.
